Welcome home Jim!

Jim returnsDr. Jim Radcliffe has been the missionary surgeon at Kudjip Nazarene Hospital for nearly 30 years.  During this time he shown the love of God to countless people and saved the lives of many people.  Because of this work, and the excellent reputation of the hospital for giving good care, Dr. Jim’s name is well known in PNG.

As per our previous article, when people heard Dr. Jim needed heart surgery, the  spontaneous outpouring of support was overwhelming.  The Church of the Nazarene did not try to raise money, just interested people doing it on their own as a love offering to help with medical expenses raised over US$35,000.  In a country where 85% of the population are subsistence farmers, it was thousands of people involved in giving!

For monthJim speaks to crowds people have been asking when Jim and his family would be coming back.  When the Radcliffe family arrived at the airport they were greeted by many.  Then on their arrival to Kudjip about 800-1000 people were there welcoming them home.

Dr. Jim addressed the crowd telling the ways God had worked in this situation.  The crowd was clearly touched when he shared that Kathy’s mom was dying of cancer but had already given the family as an offering in God’s service to PNG and wanted to send them back.  Jim said that their return was an answer to the prayers of many and an answer to their own prayers to continue their ministry here as well.  He said God had given them these verses:

1 Thessalonians 3:11-13 “Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you. May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else.  May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God Father, when our Lord Jesus appears with all his saints.”
