Our first ever NHM staff retreat for the first group was held at Camp Kalina, Mt. Hagen from May 14 -17th, 2015. Two other groups will follow so that every staff member of every section of the hospital can attend.
I would like to take this time to thank the administration for your God given vision, financial support, and prayers for a NHM spiritual formation program. I believe it is the will of God for NHM to have an active discipleship program. What makes NHM a very special place to live and work in is that it has an active internal discipleship program where people not only serve through health care but no matter who they are and what they do in NHM, they are being reached and discipled spiritually. NHM takes one step further in ensuring and creating an environment away from work where God can speak to them individually.
After a few uncontrollable delays, we finally hosted our very first lot of NHM staff retreat. Camp Kalina is definitely a suitable environment away from distractions, a very affordable venue for hosting such retreats in big numbers.
This past Thursday afternoon through Sunday was really a spiritually enriching time for the 85 plus people that attended. The Lord used and inspired our speakers, Rev. Leo Kunumb and Rev. Andrew Akus to really encourage our staff through the word of God. They spoke about being a good steward of God’s resources here on earth. Many surrendered to God in all areas of their individual, family, and work life, and to fully submit themselves and every relationship to God. Some even gave their lives to Christ for the first time. Many were convicted to be better stewards of God in their daily work in NHM.
It was really a blessing to see how each and every one responded to the word of God. Many testified, thanked HAT/management team for the retreat. Long serving staff like Papa Timothy, Barnabas, Simon Tausi and others said that they have grown old with NHM and they are privileged to be able to attend this retreat where they can be away from work, rest, eat well and receive the word of God in very welcoming environment. The presence of God was evident as hearts were softened, convicted and as many came to the alter to surrender/recommit their lives to God.
Also a special thanks to Tininga Companies, Mt. Hagen, for donations to cover much of the costs of this event!
Thank you to the organizing committee as well. Thank you each one who helped in taking leadership in planning and ensuring that this staff weekend retreat was done successfully. It was an honour to
be able to serve these hard working people. Glory be to God.
